Gennet Letna Urology and Andrology

The health of the urinary and reproductive systems affects quality of life and fertility. In up to half of couples, the male factor plays a role in infertility.

Gennet Letna therefore operates a specialised uro-andrological department in collaboration with the assisted reproduction centre. We provide prevention, diagnosis and treatment for everything from common complaints to erectile dysfunction, male infertility and uro-oncological conditions.

What Can Our Specialists at Gennet Letna Help You With?

Our uro-andrological department in Prague 7 provides comprehensive care for the health of the urinary tract and male reproductive organs.

Andrology – Specialised Care for Men

Andrology focuses in detail on the health of the male genital organs, hormonal balance, and above all reproductive capacity. We address the causes of male infertility, erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorders and other specifically male complaints.

Urology – Care for Men and Women

Urology deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of conditions of the urinary tract (kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra) in both men and women. In men, it also cares for the health of the genital organs (prostate, testes, penis).

Prevention as the Foundation of Health

Early diagnosis is key to the successful treatment of many diseases.

At Gennet Letna, we place great emphasis on preventive programs.

  • Prostate cancer prevention – most important for men:
Prostate cancer is the most common malignant tumour in men in the Czech Republic. Regular preventive check-ups with a urologist can detect this disease early, often before the first symptoms appear, significantly increasing the chances of a full cure. Prevention includes digital rectal examination of the prostate and a blood test for PSA (prostate-specific antigen).
  • Comprehensive urological prevention for men and women:
Just as women visit their gynaecologist regularly, men should also – ideally after the age of 50, or earlier in the case of family history – attend preventive check-ups with a urologist. However, urological prevention also concerns women, particularly those who suffer from recurrent urinary tract infections or other urological complaints..

Close Collaboration with Our Assisted Reproduction (IVF) Centre

None

The specialised uro-andrological department at Gennet Letna is an integral part of our comprehensive approach to infertility treatment. Our urologists/andrologists work closely with IVF specialists and other disciplines in the treatment of infertility (immunology, embryology, endocrinology and others). If a male factor is identified (e.g. poor spermogram, varicocele, genetic causes), our specialists propose an individual treatment plan. This may include conservative therapy (lifestyle change, medication), hormonal support of spermatogenesis, or in indicated cases surgical sperm retrieval (MESA/TESE). This close collaboration ensures smooth and coordinated care for the couple on their journey to parenthood.

Before your visit

To ensure your comfort and the efficiency of your visit, we have prepared the following recommendations:

  • Preparing for Your Appointment: Most urological and andrological examinations do not require any special preparation. For certain tests (e.g., urine analysis, ultrasound), it is advisable to arrive with a comfortably full bladder—there is no need for it to be uncomfortably overfilled. If you are experiencing acute symptoms, such as a fever or severe pain, please inform our staff when booking your appointment.

Medical Documentation: If you have results from previous relevant examinations (e.g., spermogram, ultrasound, blood tests) or reports from other specialists, please bring them with you. An up-to-date list of medications you take regularly, including over-the-counter supplements, is also essential.

Your Questions for the Doctor: Feel free to write down any questions or topics you would like to discuss during your consultation. This helps ensure your time with the doctor is used as effectively as possible and that you receive all the information you need.
